Ugly lovers is a duo from Olympia, WA that delivers gloomy tracks trudging through heavy distortion and reverb combined with sludge aspects and a at times disturbing tone. the opening track on this new EP will have you bobbing your head with light atmosphere and repetitious elements before the heavy distortion and crashing of subsequent  quickly snap you out of your trance. These atmospheric songs are accompanied by vocals ranging from chanting like vocals to gut wrenching screams. All together this is a great release for those looking for modern post-punk mixed with heavy atmosphere. I highly recommend this album for those looking for something heavy gloomy and dark.

Driftwood Records is a DIY label ran out a house in Eugene Oregon. Now the logistics of a Label in the DIY music scene is a topic for a lot of debate, but thats not what i am here to talk about. Driftwood has been a large contributor to the DIY music scene doing numerous cassette tape/vinyl/ cd releases for many bands that larger labels would never take a chance on, releases include bands like Human Kitten, Flowers Taped To Pens, Wet Petals, Kill the intellectuals, Things Fall Apart, Cabin Fire, Park Jefferson, secret stuff and many many more . Thou many rumors have spread about Driftwood and individual (who is a sweetie) who runs it, You cannot deny that Driftwood has indeed helped many bands and made physical releases a more obtainable idea without pouring tons of money into buying equipment. Whether its truly DIY or not, I believe Driftwood Records is a huge ally to the DIY music scene and should definitely be supported.

Casket is hard to describe, in a modern age filled with twinkly emo they bring a familiar but different sound to the genre. But staying a tad bit more simple than most opting for less noodles and more power. The Vocalist is slightly monotone at time but it works and makes the occasional screams much more abrasive and sweet. All together this is a great album and worth the curiosity.

Merit is a band from AZ playing bummer jams. These guys are probably my favorite band i've found from being submitted music on this blog. Their music appeals to me so much just because its so full sounding and just extremely real lyrics. From the last release, Merit has progressed extremely far. I was curious on to how they were going to top TODD II, but they really did on this. You can hear how much effort they put into this one, lots of layers and lots of polishing on the tips. There are a few tracks returning from older EPs, but they are redone, and even better. Just everything about this release is perfect to me, super excited for the future endeavors of these dudes. If you were to label Chelsea Wolfe in a broad sense, you would probably say that she falls under the genre of Folk. However that would not be doing her justice. She derives quite a bit of influences from Black & Doom-Metal and even has a Burzum cover floating around the internet. The instrumentals on Ἀποκάλυψις, as well as Chelsea's voice alternate from being ambient and haunting, to raspy and intense throughout the track-list. The tracks themselves are layered with alternating ambiance, adding an ominous and darkly atmospheric feeling to Chelsea's wailed minor tonalities.

This is probably the saddest release ever. Some of the songs, in example So You Wanna Be A Superhero literally are the sound of depression. These guys are so under rated in my opinion its sad. Two of the guys from this band went on to form Band Of Horses which is also a really good band in my opinion but is a completely different sound from this. I swear every single release gets better. I don't understand how Title Fight can get any better. This is one of the most solid bands in their type of music. I don't see how anyone can hate this.
