1. I
2. Am

I am always looking for interesting/different things to review and post, and when my friend from Bear Creek released this project i knew i had to put it up. Yung Baer $quad is dirty creepy angry trap/electronic that makes you want to stare blankly at a burning building or demolition. Sludgy dark beats will drown you and you wont want to reach the surface, listen to this.

Kato - Buried With The Rain

Genre: Hardcore/Sludge/Post Rock
Year: 2013

Tracklist:
1. Yet His Shadow Still Looms
2. And All of the Rats Gather
3. Dust of Earth

Sometime last year I reviewed this bands first release named Came With Nothing / Left With Nothing and it was and still is one of my favorite submissions. This is their new release and let me tell you, this one is quite a project. The first song on this "Yet His Shadow Still Looms" begins with a cacophony of guitar distortion, feedback, brown note bass work, and the drummer pretty much just smashing his kit. This slowly turns into a haunting and eerie interlude part with clean guitar and finally it kicks back into the dissonance again but this time with some ear splitting vocals just to top off this wonderful track. Which honestly starts out this album as perfect as it can get and pretty much shows you what you're in for for the rest of the album.

We move on to the second track named "And All of the Rats Gather". It starts with a creepy sounding wind tunnel like noise that the guitarist is pulling off and there is a quote playing by Robert Oppenheimer which adds a certain feel of hopelessness to this track. This track also ventures into more of a hardcore feel. With riffs sounding like they came from Converge and pounding floor toms all over this track. This is a mean track.

Last but not least is the track "Dust of Earth". To me this tracks puts off a feel of just being alone all by yourself on Earth. Packed full of melodic guitar parts and standalone vocals this ends up being my favorite tracks of all on this record. This song really brings out the whole post-rock/post-metal feel. The riff near the end of this track is just fucking awesome as well by the way.

This band honestly needs more attention and doesn't get enough credit for how awesome and creative of music they are releasing. So please give this one a chance.

Nibiru - The Reinvention Of Man

Year:2012
Genre:Metal/Hardcore/Sludge

Tracklist:
1. The Reinvention Of Man
(Ch 1. Hard Focus)
(Ch 2. Pure Energy)
(Ch 3. God Mode)

A Strange yet wonderful creation from Nibiru, following up from their "Earthbreeder" Demo. One 9 minute track makes up this release, making it Incredibly hard to classify, as their are hints of so many kinds of music. but i would describe is as this: its sounds like Twitching Tongues being attacked by Basement whilst fighting off Breaking Point.
 It's really fucking good.

Wraiths - EP 2012

Genre: Down-Tempo/Hardcore/Sludge
Year: 2013

Tracklist:
1. Pyramid Head
2. Church Burner
3. Hell Ride
4. Black Vultures
5. Monolith

Down-Tempo band hailing from North-East UK. Another release from Witch Hunter Records, maybe the first down-tempo band from them(I may be wrong) but definitely a release worth getting, this album has so much energy, personality, and emotion. As well as being an album you can get down to and be a mosh wizard, these dudes rip out some balls to the wall heavy riffs and some cool ominous/melodic riffs. Pretty rad lyrics as well. These dudes sound somewhere similar to like Brutality Will Prevail(Sleep Paralysis), but sometimes not really, these guys really honestly have their own kind of sound and you should check it out.

Koresh - Chump

Genre: Sludge/Hardcore
Year: 2013

Tracklist:
1. Straight Edge Till Midnight
2. Wogan
3. Cheer Up Glasgow
4. Bin Juice
5. Adolf Hipster
6. Shitbird
7. You Can Call Me Gaahl

Five piece sludge group from London. Release from one of my favorite labels Witch Hunter Records and this is another album that just doesn't disappoint. Witch Hunter's roster is getting better and better each day and can't wait to see what the dude does in the future. Alright well to the description of this band, these guys play a very dirty, gritty, and acid filled sludge style in the vein of bands like Iron Monkey, Eyehategod, and Acid Bath. Not only sludge though do these guys pull off, they pull off a very great bluesy style of hardcore it sounds like to me kind of like Sabertooth Zombie. The riffs in this album will annihilate you.

Ad Dajjal - Ciclico

Genre: Hardcore/Crust/Sludge
Year: 2013

Tracklist:
1. Somnolencia
2. Thysia
3. Neviim
4. Crimental

Heavy as fuck hardcore band from Chile. These dudes pump out some of the heaviest songs i've heard in a while, some of the sludgier part on this album get so angry, like Dystopia angry. As well as ripping out those heavy parts they pull off some eerie melodic parts as well that just click really well with the style they are doing. It reminds me of Brutality Will Prevail in those moments. I have no clue what the lyrics are saying, but I can bet they are dark as fuck. Also, that artwork. -Jacob Rice

9. Untitled
10. Talk To The Trees

Blurry Vision are a Hardcore group from Austin Texas. These guys play an angry as fuck metallic hardcore style, as well as fusing some Crust, Sludge, Black Metal, and Southern Rock. The overall feeling of this album is just that these dudes are sick of everything, and you can definitely hear it in the dismal, and bitter vocals. The guitar on this thing is just heavy as FUCK, the tone he has sounds like an old sludge or stoner band. This is an angry band for angry people. Let me repeat one last time, THIS IS HEAVY -Jacob Rice

Atragon - Volume 1

Genre: Doom/Sludge/Stoner
Year: 2013

Tracklist:
1. The Sound In The Halls
2. Jesus Wept

Doom band from the UK. These dudes are like if you took Electric Wizard and made them heavier, which is hard to think of considering Electric Wizard is like jaw droppingly heavy. Low Places - Black Tape

Bandcamp
Genre: Hardcore/Black Metal/Sludge
Year: 2013

Tracklist:
1. Side A

Last release from this awesome band out of CA. These dudes always have put out a very solid effort on their releases. Spiritual Treatment and their S/T were on replay for me for a very long time. This release is very noisy and gritty. Sad to see these dudes are ending it, but they end it on a killer release. This thing is dark as fuck. I can't really compare it to anything and don't need to. You guys know who these dudes are, get this shit now. This is being release on a very limited amount of tapes soon. -Jacob Rice

Opium Lord-The Calendrical Cycle Prologue: The Healer

Year: 2013
Genre: Sludge/Doom/Black Metal
1. Heroin Swirls
2. Street Labs

A submission from the Birmingham, UK band Opium Lord. This band has only been around for a little over a month and they've already had radio airplay on BBC, and for good reason. Opium Lord is a blistering cocktail of the instrumental droning of Doom, the raspy vocals of Black Metal, and the chugging pace of Sludge. Keep a look out for their EP release this Spring.

Dead End Alaska/Ostrov - Family and Friends Vol. II

Genre: Hardcore/Sludge
Year: 2012

Tracklist:
1. Dead End Alaska - The Bird With Human Legs
2. Dead End Alaska - Million Kyle March
3. Ostrov - Maw
4. Ostrov - Carrion

This is a split between Dead End Alaska and Ostrov. Recently one of the members of Dead End Alaska submited this and I gave it a good listen and I thoroughly enjoy this thing. Dead End Alaska brings more of a softer more emotional side of hardcore kind of close to a post hardcore or screamo thing. While Ostrov brings a heavy distorted sludge sound to this split. Very refreshing mix up! Definitely check this thing out and support both of these bands.
